Benefits of self pay physical therapy:
Up front costs - no hidden fees
No referral needed, direct access as soon as you need it
One-on-one, full hour treatment
Flexible hours / scheduling including some nights and weekends
PT tailored to your goals, not your insurance companies goals
Why we don’t accept insurance:
Insurance companies often dictate the number of visits allowed to healthcare providers, which is often inconsistent with what is medically necessary or ideal, causing gaps in treatment and termination of care before goals are met.
Insurance companies are often not up front with the cost to the patient / policy holder, leading to frustration with unexpected payments / fees.
Many insurances only cover certain interventions and will not cover treatment like dry needling and non-direct care minutes, pressuring insurance-based therapists into less than optimal treatments.
Despite increased education costs (physical therapists are now required to complete a 3 year doctorate program) and higher cost of living, insurance reimbursements for physical therapy have not increased in the last 30 years, and companies are often slow to reimburse at all.
